The article presents the goals, objectives and results of the practical implementation of the modernization of the Abridged schedules of the Library Bibliographical Classification. The importance of developing this version of the system to meet the practical needs of library, information and publishing activities is emphasized.
TRIBUNE FOR YOUTH
The article is devoted to the history of publications of the creative heritage of one of the outstanding representatives of the Silver Age D.S. Merezhkovsky at the Publishing House of I.P. Ladyzhnikov. For the first time materials from the archive of this Publishing House at the Amsterdam Institute of Social History are being introduced into scientific circulation.
The author reveals the place and the share of publications in the Crimean Tatar language in the total volume of printed production of the Crimean State Publishing House in 1920s. The article provides data to estimate the nature of these publications.
The review presents general statistics of publications of works by German-speaking authors for children in the 21st century in Russia; the main tendencies associated with modern ideas about the «actual» children’s book are noted; the most popular authors and the most demanded translators are presented; the types of publications, as well as the ideological, thematic and genre features of the works that have found themselves in the circle of attention of current publishers in Russia have been identified.
PAGES OF HISTORY
The author introduces into scientific circulation an unpublished report delivered by D.V. Ulyaninsky (1861–1918) at a special meeting of the Russian Bibliographic Society (RBS) on November 19, 1903. It was dedicated to the memory of A.I. Kirpichnikov (1845–1903), the Society’s chairman, professor of Moscow University. It describes the scientist’s personal qualities, his reports at the RBS meetings, highlights his role in preparing the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Russian periodical press. The report is of interest because it expands the list of D.V. Ulyaninsky’s works, demonstrates the famous bibliophile as a biographer and historian of the RBS.
