ACTUAL STATISTICS
The authors of the article provide the main statistics of the Russian printed periodicals output in 2020, analyzing the current state and trends in this sphere of the publishing business in Russia.
PROBLEMS. FACTS. SOLUTIONS
The article traces how the concept and place of the heading in the bibliographic record have changed in the instructions, rules and standards for bibliographic description. The change in the methodology for forming the heading is analyzed: the number of names of authors, the form of their presentation, localization in the record. The role of the Interregional Committee for Cataloguing of Russia in the creation of basic instructional and methodological documents on bibliographic description is highlighted.
The article describes the model of distribution of printed books, based on the definition and analysis of the essential characteristics of bookselling enterprises operating in Siberia and the Far East, their interaction and mutual influence. Market and nonmarket segments, wholesale and retail links, stationary, nonstationary and remote forms, book distribution channels are analyzed. The regional specifics of the transformation of the system structure for the distribution of printed production is established.
DISCUSSIONS AND SPECULATIONS
The author considered how the attitude to the heading, its definition and place in the bibliographic record has changed in international and domestic documents on cataloging. The evolution of the ‘Statement of International Cataloguing Principles’ is traced, the gradual transformation of the term ‘heading’ into the term ‘access point’. The title of the new national standard is coming up for discussion.

The article discusses the communication process of the author and the reader of a popular science text. The features of this phenomenon are revealed through the analysis of such aspects of message transmission as the peculiarities of the information environment in which the sender and the recipient are located, the author’s communication objectives, the main directions of the reader’s intellectual efforts.
The article contends the absence of a single generally accepted ‘international library and bibliographic cooperation’ term definition’s in Russian and foreign librarianship. The author examines definitions of synonymous terms, outlines their advantages and disadvantages and proposes his own definition of the term ‘international library and bibliographic cooperation’.
MEMORIAL DATES
The article is devoted to the Barenbaum centenary (1921–2006) — outstanding Russian bibliologist teacher, historian of book publishing and book trade. The rich scientific heritage of this scholar, his contribution to the professional training of specialists in bibliology and librarianship are analyzed. It is emphasized the geocosmic idea of book interpretation as an ideal human mentality rooted in the reader’s personal psychology emerging in the unique interaction in every single information-communication act of bearing book — reader. The bibliographical list of publications by I.E. Barenbaum is submitted.
PAGES OF HISTORY
The author on the basis of archival material and prerevolutionary sources analyzed the library and bibliographic activity of the librarian of the Library of the General and Chief Staff colonel A.I. Grigorovich, as well as his contribution to the regimental historiography. His role as a valid member of the Imperial Russian Military and Historical Society is presented.
PEOPLE AND FATES
The author investigated the biography of G.K. Derman — prominent representative of Soviet library area (1882–1954). Her professional activity in emigration and in the USSR is showed. Motives of her arrest and condemnation are disclosed.
