The authors of the article provide the main statistics of the Russian printed periodicals output in 2021, analyzing the current state and trends in this sphere of the publishing business in Russia.

The publications statistics and bibliographical lists of printed publications (books and articles) by F.M. Dostoevsky are submitted for 2021. The literature about works and creations of this author is also reflected.

The article discusses the approaches to the creation of modern methodological literature for teachers, characterizes the elements of the concept of methodical publication, provides data from a survey of students of advanced training courses conducted by the Institute for the Development of Education of the Republic of Tatarstan. The author emphasizes the importance of methodological literature, which reflects the modern processes taking place in the book publishing business and takes into account the needs of consumers.

The article examines specialized thematic files, subject catalogues and collections of newspaper clippings on the art of art libraries and universal libraries as part of the reference and search apparatus, their importance in reference and information service. The main ways of possible translation of thematic catalogues and files into electronic form and successful examples of their implementation in Russian State Library of Arts and other libraries are presented. Alternatives to the electronic environment of information contained in card catalogs and file cabinets are considered. The most promising in terms of possible implementation is the creation of image-catalogues that preserve the structure and rubrics of the original resource and show the historical value of the original section of the reference and search engine.

The article presents an analytical review of documents on the topic “the model libraries”, considers both theoretical and practical aspects of their creation and functioning. The author uses the five-stage periodization proposed by E.N. Guseva in accordance with the implementation of state projects in a part of creating the libraries of a new type. Publications about the experience of some model libraries are presented.

The article deals with the problems and conditions for promoting scientific and practical events in the library industry, describes the preparation and holding of the 20th scientific and practical seminar of the research department of Library Sciences of Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences, conducts a web-statistical study of the public and scientific resonance of the events of this department.

The article is devoted to the interactions between printed book, book culture and bibliography as categories of “general”, “special” and “single” ones from the point of view of theory and practice of modern Russian book business.

The general terms and concepts of library science and bibliography science are considered. The author underlines that the fund is modeled only by the part of the reference and bibliographic apparatus that reflects the composition of the fund. The widespread use of electronic secondary documents only changes the form of both the fund model and the reference and bibliographic apparatus, leaving all the theoretical positions of both bibliography and science of library collections unshakeable. It is shown that there is no need to assign special terms to the symbiosis of primary and secondary documents. The rejection of the key terms “document” and “document resource” is also erroneous, and the attempt to replace them with the terms “information resource” or simply “resource” is futile.

The concept “book culture” as synonym of the term “book” is submitted for consideration.

The article deals with the problem of negative information impact in modern book publications for children. Specific facts containing signs of destructive influence on readers are revealed. The results of a survey of library specialists-managers of reading about undesirable phenomena in book products are presented.

The author considers the monumental work on the history of printing, created by the historian and researcher V.E. Rumyantsev 150 years ago. An analysis of the content of each chapter, decoration and applications is presented.
