Abstract

The article discusses two directions of non­traditional research on reading books. According to the first direction which based on decoding the codes of the Library of Babel of the brain, the book is considered as an external cognitome, as a reflected system of subjective experience formed in the body in the process of evolution. The second direction includes reading such a book which is possible with digital methodology of distant reading. The author proposes to organize a literary and bibliographic laboratory to form new strategy of a precise science of bibliography.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the integration of the recommendation bibliography of the art space into the information and cultural practices of the digital world. The author considers the recommendatory bibliography’s possibilities for the implementation of the postmodern era’s cultural ideas and the particular-reading practices within the framework of the philosophy of hugge. The paper presents methodological traditions of recommendation bibliography (‘axioms’) and methods of the artworks’ information analysis for non-professional consumers (‘10 practical tips’). The technological and linguistic tasks for building of the digital resources of reference bibliography (special modules of electronic libraries) are defined.

Abstract

The article is about studying the trends in book naming in modern publishing practices. The author compiled a database of more than 5000 book titles using quantitative calculations and analyzed the obtained quantitative data to find out typical features of book naming in different genres, and also errors can occur in the process of naming. The data is presented in visual form in tables. The results of investigation may be applicable in editorial and publishing processes.

Abstract

The article deals with animated book covers as a new technology and book covers within the context of the publishing industry at large. While digital reading poses obvious complications for how books may be aesthetically packaged, it is suggested that an animated image is a great way for a book to reach a wider audience. The author points out that digital cover preserves most of traditional cover’s features such as intersemiotic interpretation and visual presentation of a book or paratextual entry into a book.
